Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and New York City School Chancellor Richard Carranza were among those touring the planned home for the Brooklyn Steam Center Wednesday.
The center, located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, is designed to help students focusing on sciences, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
It will host hundreds of juniors and seniors from public schools across the borough.
Students will learn skills like carpentry, masonry, electrical skills, plumbing, culinary skills, media and film.
Adams hopes the rest of the city will follow Brooklyn’s footsteps and create similar programs.
