The Coalition of Connecticut Puerto Rican Day Parades and Festivals have six different independent organizations. The Fairfield chapter has a Puerto Rican parade every year in July in Bridgeport and together they are re-launching a new website in hopes to get some monetary relief to their friends and family in Puerto Rico.
Joe Rodriguez, president of Puerto Ricans United, says another natural disaster in Puerto Rico is personal for him. He has several family members and friends who live there.
The Coalition of Connecticut Puerto Rican Day Parades and Festivals are re-launching an online relief effort, which was initially launched in the aftermath of the 2020 earthquake. It's called
CT Helps PR.
They are hoping to raise monetary donations which will help them support nonprofits that are on the Island.
National efforts to help Puerto Rico are also underway, like Project Hope -- a global health and humanitarian organization based out of D.C. that has people on the ground in Puerto Rico.
