A Long Island nurse did it all while working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emily Capobianco left behind her family every day for a year to help Long Islanders fight the coronavirus. And she's the only person who doesn't think it's heroic.

"We're all leaving our families at home," says Capobianco. "We're all scared to death."

From working as a volunteer at Patchogue Ambulance to jumping into the trenches in the ER and then working at a nursing home in the COVID-19 unit, Capobianco wore many hats.

"I got to see really what it was like to work with a team of other people when it really counted," says Capobianco.

Capobianco says she's learned that she can endure more than she thought she could.

"I'm going to look back on it and not see the pain of it, just all the good things that came out of it that I'm just so grateful for," says Capobianco.

Capobianco says she's really grateful and Long Island is grateful to have her.
