Police continue to investigate the deaths of a 33-year-old woman and 7-year-old child who were found dead in an apartment Wednesday afternoon.

The woman and boy were found at 545 Dumont Ave. in East New York. Friends identified the deceased woman as Sara Watkins and the child as her son, Kannon Reid. Police were still at the NYCHA building Thursday where the lived, and the apartment is now sealed by police orders. Friends and family members told News 12 they had growing concerns for Watkins over recent years as she grew more reclusive following the death of her grandfather who once lived in the same apartment with her and her son. Neighbors said the woman and child were quiet and were seldom seen leaving and entering their apartment. They also said there was a foul smell coming from the apartment for about a week before police were called to the apartment and made the grim discovery. Police sources said there are no signs of trauma, they are awaiting a medical examiners report to determine a cause of death.
