Family and friends celebrated the life of an East New York teen that was brutally stabbed and killed.
Wednesday marked the two-month anniversary of Tanaya Copland's death. Copeland was walking home on May 30 when she was stabbed in the neck, back and abdomen.
Family and friends gathered in Copeland's apartment building to share a meal, play music and reminisce about their good times with the 18-year-old.
Investigators initially said Copeland's death may have been connected to the stabbing of two children in an elevator just days later. But, nobody has officially been named as a suspect in Copeland's death.
Copeland's mother says she was a member of a community marching band and a nursing student.
Friends and family hope the NYPD can catch the person responsible for Copeland's death. A family friend says they will continue to join together every 30th of each month until justice is served.
