Family, friends and community members are coming together to remember a slain NYPD detective who was killed during a botched robbery in Cypress Hills three years ago.
A wreath in memory of Detective Peter Figoski stands on Pine Street, right where he and his partner responded to a call of a break-in back in 2011.
Soon after the officers' arrival, Figoski was fatally shot in the face by Lamont Pride, who was convicted and sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.
Two other men are also behind bars in connection with the crime.
Figoski's brother-in-law says hundreds of people filled Pine Street overnight at around the time the officer was shot.
