There was still confusion Thursday over whether or not travelers need to wear a face mask at area airports.  On Long Island, masks are once again required at MacArthur Airport.
The rule change came Wednesday, just one day after the airport made face coverings optional.
A Town of Islip spokesperson wrote in part, "Long Island MacArthur Airport officials have been contacted by the governor's office and provided with guidance, which requires that masks be worn in areas controlled by the airport, specifically, baggage claim and ticketing areas."
However, some say the rules are now not being enforced.

“It looks like there's no mask mandate. It looks like most people do not have a mask on,” says Vera Lonardo, of Massapequa.
Masks are optional on most domestic flights, after the major airlines did away with their mandates earlier this week
