Young Bushwick students joined kids all around the world Monday in learning about the importance of literacy.
P.S./I.S. 45 took part in its own One World Literacy Day, which is an extension of UNESCO's International Literacy Day.
Students enjoyed giveaways, performances and hands-on activities, along with lessons about why reading is so important.
The Magic Johnson Foundation and the One World Literacy Foundation came together to host the event. They're targeting schools in five cities where there has been a demonstrated need, including two other schools in New York City.
