Bronx drivers are bracing for gridlocks in their daily commutes due to a lane closure on the Alexander Hamilton Bridge.
For the next three months, the middle lane on the eastbound side will be shut down as part of a project to repair steel underneath the bridge and to install a new concrete deck. The westbound middle lane will be closed for three months after that.
The bridge feeds traffic to and from the George Washington Bridge, the Major Deegan Expressway and the Cross Bronx Expressway. Drivers are advised to give themselves extra travel time, especially during rush hour, and consider alternate routes.
