Bay Plaza was filled with participants for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
Survivors and supporters at the event say every step they take is personal.
"Everybody has a sister, a mother, a cousin an aunt, and we have to make sure that we really cure this disease,” said one Bronx resident.
The event hopes to raise awareness, share resources and bring about conversations spreading the word on funding cancer research.
"I’m throwing my fist up because you are a survivor. You are tough. You are resilient. You don't give up,” said Bronx Borough President, Vannesa L. Gibson.
