Mayor Zohran Mamdani introduced five new appointments to lead core New York City government agencies on Saturday.

Stanley Richards is the first formerly incarcerated individual to serve as commissioner of the city's Department of Correction.

Alister Martin was named commissioner of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Yesenia Mata will serve as commissioner for the Department of Veterans' Services.

Sandra Escamilla-Davies is now commissioner for the Department of Youth and Community Development.

Mamdani also named Vilda Vera Mayuga as the commissioner of the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.
