Mamdani chooses first deputy mayor and chief of staff

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has appointed two people to top posts in his administration.
Dean Fuleihan was chosen as first deputy mayor. Fuleihan previously served as budget director under Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Elle Bisgaard-Church was selected as chief of staff. She has formerly acted as Mamdani's chief of staff in the state Assembly and also as his campaign manager for his primary campaign.
"With Dean Fuleihan as First Deputy Mayor and Elle Bisgaard-Church as Chief of Staff, I have no doubt we will build a powerful and competent administration that delivers an affordable, livable city for working peoples," Mamdani said in a statement.
The announcement comes days after announcing his all-female transition team.
