A man is accused of swindling a 9/11 victim and her widowed mother out of thousands of dollars, according to the Nassau district attorney.
The district attorney's office says that Richard Yasnis posed as an investment broker in 2023, stealing over $140,000 from the two women. Nearly $50,000 of that came from the victim's 9/11 compensation funds for her work at ground zero.
Yasnis pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.
