Man charged with murder in death of 77-year-old Brooklyn woman

A 51-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a 77-year-old woman found over the weekend bruised inside her Brooklyn apartment.

A 51-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a 77-year-old woman found over the weekend bruised inside her Brooklyn apartment.
Police responded Saturday evening to a possible assault at 361 East 45 St. That’s where they found Elenora Bernard “with bruising and swelling about the body.”
She was later pronounced dead at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The medical examiner determined that Bernard died by asphyxiation.
Andre Hooper, 51, of Brooklyn, was arrested early Monday morning. Details surrounding the death and arrest were not immediately available, and the relationship between the suspect and victim is still unknown at this time.
