The NYPD has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Mount Eden as 29-year-old Miguel Doleo.
Doleo was shot in the chest and leg while standing on the corner of Mount Eden and Townsend avenues around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to NYPD officials, Doleo was accompanied by three other men, aged between 23 and 37, when they were approached by four suspects on two scooters traveling eastbound on Mount Eden Avenue. The suspects opened fire on the group, hitting Doleo and causing gunshot wounds to the legs of the other three men.
After the shooting, the four suspects fled the scene on the two scooters heading northbound on Townsend Avenue. While police have one person in custody, they have not confirmed if this individual is directly linked to the incident.
The area where the shooting occurred has been a focal point for law enforcement, with 36 gun arrests made in the 44th and 46th precincts in the last 28 days, and 18 guns confiscated from April 1 to April 9. Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry emphasized efforts to remove scooters and illegal bikes from the streets, reporting that 9,500 scooters have been seized citywide this year, with 2,500 confiscated in the Bronx alone. Additionally, there have been 1,300 arrests involving individuals using scooters to commit crimes.
As of now, no further arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
