Secret Service says suspect opened fire on them and was shot in exchange near Washington Monument

Officers received a 911 call for an assault at 801 Flatbush Ave. just before 8 p.m. They found a 53-year-old man who had been shot in the left hand.

EMS took the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he is expected to recover.
