A man is recovering in the hospital after getting shot in Kensington.

Police say it all started with a brawl inside a local bar that escalated to the streets.

It happened just after 6 a.m. Monday. Police say two men got into a fight at Green Pavilion Sports Lounge on 18th Avenue that spilled out on the sidewalk. During the brawl, one of them shot the other.

Police confirm the victim is a 28-year-old man. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. One person living nearby said he heard when it happened.

"I just heard one shot and somebody screaming," he said. "I wasn't sure if it was a gunshot because there was no echo but I guess it was."

Police say the suspect was wearing a black motorcycle jacket with blue jeans at the time. They're asking anyone with information about what happened to give them a call.
