Man shot near Gowanus playground, police say victim is uncooperative

A 34-year-old man was hit in the shoulder and chest by gunshot, according to police.

A man is recovering after being shot near a Gowanus playground early Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

Officers say the shooting happened around 3:17 a.m. at 245 Nevins St., near a playground at the corner of Degraw Street. A 34-year-old man was hit in the shoulder and chest. He later showed up at a nearby shelter on Sackett Street, where someone called 911.

The victim was taken by EMS to Methodist Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

So far, police say the man is not cooperating with investigators, and no suspect information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
