Man slashed during argument near playground in Gowanus

A 58-year-old man was slashed during an argument near a playground in Gowanus, police say.

Officers responded to 3rd Avenue and Douglass Street just before 2:45 p.m. Monday, steps from Thomas Greene Playground.

The NYPD says the man was slashed with a cutting instrument in the right side of the face and in the lower back.

Paramedics took him to Methodist Hospital, where police say he is expected to recover.

According to the NYPD, the man's attacker took off running after the incident and was last seen wearing dark-colored clothing.
