Man slashed with machete in Sunset Park; attackers still on the run

A man is recovering after being slashed with a machete in Sunset Park, and the people responsible have not been caught.

This happened just after 4 p.m. Monday outside a building on 5th Avenue.

A 34-year-old man was on the sidewalk when he was slashed in the back during some kind of dispute. A police source tells News 12 the weapon used was a machete.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

The two men involved ran off and have not been found.

One was last seen wearing gray clothing with a backpack. The other was wearing a black hoodie with a crossbody bag.

Right now, investigators are still working to figure out what led up to the dispute.

This remains an active investigation.
