A man wanted for a shooting that took place in October in Manhattan was shot and killed by police following an hourslong standoff.

The standoff took place on the Lower East Side of Manhattan just before 12 p.m. on Thursday. Police say the suspect, Kent Edwards, locked himself in a bathroom after police tried to question him.

Officers tried to send in a robot that Edwards shot at multiple times. One officer was struck. It's not clear if he was targeted by the susppect or if the bullet ricocheted.

Officers fired back after Edwards shot the robot. Edwards was shot two times and was taken to the hospital. He died due to his injuries shortly after, according to officials.
