Residents in Manhattan Beach are locked in a battle over the fate of a dog run along Oriental Avenue.

Some residents want the dog run turned into a community garden to grow vegetables. They say the dog run is too large and dog owners aren't picking up after their pets. Proponents of the garden say they would rather see the dog run moved and made smaller.

Others, however, enjoy the dog run as it is and don't want to see it moved or made smaller.

City Councilman Mike Nelson (D-48th District) says he will consider installing a community garden if that is what the community wants, but wants a new location determined for the dog run first.
