Police say a Manhattan man has been charged with attempted murder for attacking two teens at the Prospect Avenue station Monday night.

Richard Shaw, 32, is accused of assaulting an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old bystander who was attempting to call 911.

Authorities say Shaw approached the 18-year-old on the northbound 2 train platform and engaged him in a fight just after 6 p.m. He proceeded to pull out a knife and stab the man multiple times throughout his body.

Shaw turned his attention to the 19-year-old bystander and attempted to snatch his cellphone before punching and kicking him throughout his head and body, according to police.

EMS took the 18-year-old to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is expected to recover. Authorities say the other victim denied additional medical attention at the scene.

Police sources tell News 12 an employee at the shelter where Shaw lives recognized him from the photos the NYPD released and called 911.

Shaw faces a slew of additional charges, including multiple counts of attempted robbery, assault with a weapon/intent to cause serious physical injury and harassment.
