The defending MAAC champion Manhattan College baseball team recently opened their home season with a three-game sweep of Canisius College.
In game one, Jaspers OF Kevin Nieto went 3-4 with two runs scored on offense. Pitcher Jesse Darcy did his part on the mound by tossing a complete game, five-hit shutout. He also struck out nine on the day, helping the Jaspers down Canisius 5-0 in game one.
Manhattan went on to sweep the Golden Griffins 7-3 and 5-1 in games two and three.
Darcy and Nieto were honored by the MAAC for their performances in the sweep. Darcy and freshman RHP Tom Costigan have also been named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll.
