A Greenpoint man created maps of both Greenpoint and Williamsburg right before the pandemic hit in March that have become an overview of businesses affected by the shelter-in-place order during the coronavirus pandemic.
Alex Russell says he spent months researching all the landmarks and businesses and spoke with business owners. He says he finished it and had it printed right before many non-essential businesses closed for the shelter-in-place order.
He says he's been selling the maps and getting a high volume of orders.
Russell says he plans to meet with The Map Division of the New York Public Library in January to discuss another project.
