The Marcy Plaza Farmers Market officially kicked off its second year in Bedford-Stuyvesant Wednesday morning.
The market offers fresh options to local residents, including all kinds of greens, carrots, zucchini and even some fresh herbs. The market is a joint operation, funded by Emblem Health and organized by the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration.
Organizers say there are plenty of unhealthy eating options in the area, which is triggering illnesses including diabetes and heart disease. They say it's important to offer healthier options to the community.
The market will be open every Wednesday from 10-5 p.m. until the end of October.
