Yankees legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivers delivered an important message to New Yorkers on Tuesday.
“The message is simple, keep the city clean.”
The former pitcher teamed up with SOMOS Community Care on Tuesday for a public service announcement at Highbridge Park in the Bronx.
The PSA is called “Basket In” and is featured in both English and Spanish. It’s one of a series of public service campaigns from SOMOS to encourage New Yorkers to keep the city clean.
The new announcement comes on the heels of several recent citywide initiatives to increase curbside pickup, reduce litter on the streets, and combat the city’s rodent problem.
“You can see the conditions that our taking over our city,” said one person in attendance. “Trying to keep our city cleaner will be a whole lot better for health.”
The PSA will air citywide before Labor Day and will debut nationally after.
