Some local Mexican-American families are getting a little help from a non-profit after school program.
Masa, or the Mexican-American Student Alliance, provides homework help to kids whose parents' first language is Spanish.
Volunteers sit one-on-one with the students, tutoring them on all subjects from English to math. Parents say that Masa has helped bridge the language barrier.
The Masa staff also aims to guide parents on how they can take part in their children's learning at home.
