The Mask Up NYC launch event provided PPE to Bronx residents in NYCHA housing developments.
"We gotta make sure people know that we see them, from the leaders to the residents. We see you, we're going to do what we can to get the resources to you and keep beating the drum," said Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
The Bronx Borough President's office delivered citations and awards to leaders within the community who helped during the height of the pandemic.
"Quite often you don't feel like you're being appreciated but we want to say we see you we love you we appreciate you and keep up the good work," said Ruben Diaz Jr.
NYPD Community Affairs, along with the Test and Trace Corps attended the event and reminded residents to continue wearing masks.
During the event, residents were given care packages with masks and hand sanitizers. Workers also helped residents book vaccine appointments.
The event was held all day at six Bronx locations.
