A massive five-alarm fire ripped through businesses in Longwood late Thursday.
According to the FDNY, the fire started around 10:30 p.m. at 855 Prospect Ave, a local business.
The flames quickly spread to neighboring businesses and the roof of the six-story building connected to those businesses. All those tenants were evacuated from their homes.
Saul Essa, the manager of a 99-cent store also destroyed in the fire, says he is devastated.
"It's like our second home, you know?" Sual Essa said. "We don't know the start of it, we don't know the cause of it. We really want to know what happened."
Fire officials say one person has minor injuries but refused medical attention on scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
