A sinkhole measuring 20 feet wide and 20 feet deep opened up this evening in Bay Ridge nearly swallowing up multiple cars on 79th Street.
Officials say the cause is likely the collapse of a 50-inch sewer from the 1900s.
The Department of Environmental Protection says that it has called out an emergency contractor to clear the sinkhole before the sewer can be repaired.
Officials say despite the size of the sinkhole, there were no reported injuries.
