Crews are working as fast as they can to repair a massive sinkhole that opened up at an intersection in Williamsburg.
Officials say a rupture in a sewer line caused the asphalt and cement to sink into the ground on Driggs Avenue at around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Workers are conducting emergency sewer line repairs at the hole, which is about 6-feet deep and 6-feet wide. A new pipe was lowered into the ground earlier this morning to replace the broken one.
Crews hope to have Driggs Avenue between N. 4th Street and Metropolitan Avenue partially reopened to traffic some time this afternoon.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Environmental Protection for comment, but has not yet heard back.
