Officials say two children were rescued from a house fire in Prospect Park.

The fire damaged two houses on North 11th Street.

Mayor Mohamed Khairullah says the children are expected to be OK, but four families were displaced.

"Our neighborhood and our community are blue collar workers. These are people, a lot of them, live paycheck to paycheck. They're hard working people, so to them that could be extremely devastating,” he says.

The mayor, who was once a volunteer firefighter, thanked the fire department for their bravery.
