Mayor Eric Adams announced major investments into early childhood special education, including adding 400 new seats across 65 early childhood providers this spring.
The mayor says these changes also include an increase in school days from five hours to six hours so that students with disabilities can receive the same hours as their general education peers.
The investment also includes funding programs to recruit early childhood specialists and an increase in pay so that special education teachers are paid in line with general education teachers. He says the initiative will have a huge impact on countless families across New York City.
