The New York City Department of Veterans Services hosted a volunteer day Saturday to build furniture for veterans in need.
Mayor Eric Adams joined other community leaders and volunteers for the furniture build-a-thon at John F. Kennedy Campus.
They built tables and stools by hand for formerly homeless veterans who recently transitioned to permanent housing.
This event was created through a partnership presented by the Department of Veterans’ Services and the Fuller Center for Housing of Greater New York City.
Officials say the furniture will be transferred to U-Haul trucks and distributed to veterans in need of quality furniture.
