Parents rallied outside City Hall on Monday to demand that the city lift the mask mandate in schools and day cares for young children.
Monday was supposed to be the day children under the age of 5 might be able to take off their masks at school, but Mayor Eric Adams says he is pushing that plan back by at least a week. This comes as COVID-19 cases in the city are ticking back up.
The rally was led by attorney Michael Chessa, who filed a lawsuit against the city.
"I've been asked a lot of questions why and frankly I don't know, but I do know that the science is behind us, the Constitution is behind us, we have to just keep pushing against this mayor, we have to keep pushing against this toddler mask mandate,” said Chessa.
