Mayor Eric Adams and the NYPD announced that there will be new electromagnetic technology to detect guns on the subway.
Adams also says there will be clinicians to help commuters suffering from severe mental illnesses.
The new technology has a 90-day waiting period before it can be implemented.
During that time, Adams says the NYPD will identify companies that may be a good fit to be vendors of this technology throughout the city.
Adams says police have seized 450 weapons on the New York City Transit system as of March 24 of this year.
