The city is asking Brooklyn residents to help plan for the influx of people who are expected to call New York City home by 2030.

Brooklyn residents and elected officials met Tuesday night in the downtown area to brainstorm ways to improve the city's infrastructure. According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC), about 1 million people will move to the city by 2030. Bloomberg says the city needs to start improving its infrastructure now to accommodate the new residents.

Recommendations for improvements include ensuring everyone is within 10 minutes of a park, upgrading transportation and building more affordable housing.
