Mayor Bill de Blasio signed nearly a dozen bills Monday to expand his Vision Zero traffic safety plan.
Under the new legislation, the Department of Transportation will implement seven new neighborhood slow zones in the next two years and lower speed limits near 50 schools.
Other new rules will require the city's Taxi & Limousine Commission to review crashes resulting in critical injury or death. They also will be required to suspend drivers if they receive a summons related to those accidents.
Another new law bans riders from performing stunts on motorcycles.
Transportation officials and the NYPD say they will continue to co-host a series of workshops in Brooklyn to help the public learn more about the new laws.
