Mayor Bill de Blasio's approval rating has been tumbling recently as he is facing criticism over an FBI investigation into two of his campaign donors and for comments he made during a recent comedy skit that critics say was racially insensitive.
The joke de Blasio made was regarding his late endorsement of Hillary Clinton in which he said, "Sorry, Hilary, I was running on CP time! Cautious politician time."
Not everyone was laughing at the mayor's joke because "CP time" is a term for "colored people time."
The joke came on the heels of an FBI investigation into the fundraising of his campaign.
In a recent poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal, de Blasio's approval rating was at an all-time low of 35 percent.
In a response to the poll, the mayor's office said, "Polls go up and down, like a playground seesaw. Governing is real work. The mayor is about making New York City the best it can be."
