Mayor Eric Adams was in the Bronx Sunday to visit Arthur Avenue businesses who were forced to adapt due to the pandemic.
Adams and a group of councilmembers met the owner of Mario's, who says that outdoor dining helped the restaurant, and many others, stay open.
Adams says he's looking to make outdoor dining permanent with a new bill. He also says he wants to look at the emergency mandates from the last two years to see what worked well, what hasn't and what should change.
The provision for outdoor dining areas is set to expire this month, but if the bill is approved, it would allow businesses to continue providing service to customers outside.
News 12 is told a hearing to decide the fate of outdoor dining will happen Tuesday at 10 a.m.
