The City Council's Committee on Aging held a hearing Monday to discuss proposed budget cuts that could affect thousands of Brooklyn senior citizens.
One program facing cuts is Meals on Wheels, which is slated to lose about $8 million in funding. Advocates say the program has already been struggling and fear the cut in funding could force the program to shut down. And Meals on Wheels is just one of a number of senior programs facing budget cuts.
However, the chair of the aging committee says she's confident the money will be restored to the 2007 budget. She says that has been the case for the last three years.
