Students at Medgar Evers College celebrated their victories after both the men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams won their respective CUNY Athletic Conference Championships.
No sports team of Medgar Evers has won a title since the men’s basketball team won in 2011. For the indoor track and field teams, it’s been two decades since the women’s team won, and this marks the first title for the men’s team.
Head coach Hugh Reid is a Bed-Stuy native who has won 23 CUNYAC titles at City College and Lehman College, and is bringing that championship expertise to Bedford Avenue in his very first year.
The best part? There was only one senior across both teams – meaning the track and field success for the men and women of Medgar Evers is looking to make a return next season.
