Some of the most talented writers in the country spent the weekend in Crown Heights at the eighth National Black Writers Conference.
Medger Evers College hosted the conference. This year?s theme focused on race, identity, history and genre. Those who attended the conference also learned about fiction writing and poetry. There were also discussions and seminars on how to get published.
Attendees say the conference was a good way to share information and see how the industry is growing. Authors Octavia Butler and August Wilson, both who died this year, were honored at the event.
