Big changes are on the way for the Mega Millions Lottery next month as ticket prices will more than double, rising from $2 to $5 per play, lottery officials announced.

This marks the second price increase in the game's history, following a jump from $1 to $2 in 2017.

The lottery said the price hike is part of a broader overhaul aimed at improving jackpot odds for players.

Officials promised the changes will lead to more billion-dollar wins in the future, reshaping the game to deliver bigger payouts.

The new $5 ticket price takes effect in April, with Mega Millions anticipating the shift will enhance the game's appeal and jackpot frequency.
