A memorial continues to grow at the site where two NYPD officers were shot and killed over the weekend.
Emerald Garner, the youngest daughter of Eric Garner, was joined by members of the National Action Network as they laid flowers and a wreath for officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, who were fatally shot on Saturday by Ismaaiyl Brinsley.
The fatal shooting came after weeks of protests in reaction to the decision not to indict the officer in Garner's death. Garner's daughter appealed for peace and nonviolence in the wake of the shootings.
The Bed-Stuy memorial was covered by a tent during periods of rain so that the public can continue to honor the officers.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton asked city residents to focus on the families of the two victims and put aside protests until after their funerals.
Wake and funeral arrangements for Officer Ramos are set for Friday and Saturday at Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, Queens. Arrangements for Officer Liu have not yet been finalized.
