Men of color were honored on the 25th anniversary of the ‘Million Man March’ in Brooklyn Friday.
The ‘Million Man March’ took place on Oct. 16 in 1995. Thousands of men gathered around the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to put a spotlight on issues impacting Black and brown people.
It was also aimed on shedding light on how men of color were working to lift their communities up. Andre T. Mitchell tells News 12 he was there that day.
“It was nothing but love. Brother love. It was men that were just in good spirits in good feel and they just wanted to be happy to be with each other,” said Mitchell.
Demonstrators started the march on Cadman Plaza Friday, to lower Manhattan, and across the Brooklyn Bridge.
The march brought together organizations from all over the city.
