The New York Mets came through for the MTA Friday with a donation of 100,000 cloth facemasks for workers at all its agencies.
MTA Chairman and CEO Patrick J. Foye called it a “homerun” for the workforce that has been in place since the COVID-19 began. He’s also hoping to watch the team play a shortened season this year.
“I can’t wait to see the team on the field because I’m unbelievably bullish about their prospect,” he said.
Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon said in prepared remarks that they were proud to provide the masks to the MTA.
“Providing masks is our way of saying thank you to these brave individuals for all they are doing during the pandemic,” he said.
The masks read “New York Tough” and have the famous Mets blue and orange.
