ALERTS: Winter Weather Advisory until 11 a.m. for northern Litchfield County
FORECAST:
Cold rain showers will be on and off through western CT early this morning along with dense fog lowering visibilities through 10 a.m. or so. With temperatures borderline for freezing, freezing rain is likely on colder surfaces. That's when plain rain falls onto a cold surface and freezes. A glaze of ice is possible for areas north of the I-84 corridor.
Northern Litchfield County may see the most ice accumulate as temperatures there will be coldest.
Temperatures closer to the Sound and along I-95 will be above freezing with temperatures in the middle 30s. It doesn't take much rain to fall to create some ice, so use caution. Surfaces that are untreated and appear wet could be slippery.
The showers will taper off through mid-morning.
By this afternoon, it will be dry and breezy. Temperatures will warm into the middle 40s. More rain is likely Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will rise even more with highs in the 50s by that point.
