Expect more people on the roads and at the airport Thanksgiving weekend.
"The travel rebound after the pandemic continues with more Americans taking a trip to see loved ones or new destinations," said Alec Slatky, managing director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.
AAA projects 55.4 million travelers will journey 50 miles or more over the Thanksgiving holiday.
That's a 2.3% increase from last year, marking the third highest since AAA began tracking holiday travels in 2000.
Domestic airfare costs are also up 5% from last year with an average flight sitting at $681. Meanwhile, international travel costs are down 5.7% from last year with the average flight costing $1,231.
